Additional learning support
At Central Sydney Intensive English High School, we are committed to ensuring every student feels confident, prepared, and fully engaged in all aspects of school life.
We provide tailored support for students with disabilities and additional learning needs. Your child does not require a formal diagnosis to get help—support can begin at any time throughout the school year.
Support That Fits Your Child’s Needs
Some students need extra help to feel confident and do their best. We work closely with families to create support plans that fit each child’s needs.
Support may include:
-
Teachers and support staff working with students and families.
-
Special programs for gifted and talented students
-
Small group tutoring for reading, writing, and math
-
Regular check-ins to review and update support plans
-
Changes in the classroom like:
- Accessible classrooms
- Assistive technology
- Easier or different lesson materials
- Extra guidance or different lesson focus
-
Changes to assessments such as:
- More time
- Simpler language
- Breaks during tasks
- Different ways to complete tasks (for example, speaking instead of writing)
When Do We Know Help Is Needed?
We notice when a student needs support by:
- Teachers seeing changes in learning or behaviour
- Looking at assessment results and progress
- Parents or carers sharing concerns or asking for help
Support plans are made with parents and carers, regularly checked, and changed if needed.
If you think your child needs extra help, please contact us.
