Mathematics at Central Sydney

Our Mathematics programs develop essential mathematical skills that empower students to excel in problem-solving and critical thinking across diverse contexts. By differentiating instruction to meet individual learning needs, we ensure every student progresses at their appropriate level. Our targeted mathematics classes at the transition level provide focused preparation for success in high school mathematics.

The development of mathematical skills and understanding supports students to become confident problem-solvers, logical thinkers, and well-prepared learners ready for their educational journey ahead.

FOUNDATION LEVEL:
Numbers, Ordinal numbers, time and dates, Interpreting the Calendar, The Language of Arithmetic Operations and of Geometry

PRELIMINARY LEVEL:
Large Numbers, More on Arithmetic Operations, Order of Operation, The Language of Comparing, The Language of Fractions and decimals, Space and Geometry (angles, shapes).

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
The Number Theory, Applications of Fractions, Directed Numbers, Algebra, the Number Plane and its applications, Coordinate Geometry (Stage 5 and 6), Applications of Geometry (Pythagoras, perimeter, area, angle properties)

TRANSITION LEVEL:
Real Numbers (approximations), Applications of Percentages (Financial Maths), Trigonometry (stage 5 and 6), statistics and probability, the use of technology
